| Five emu chicks born at Zoo |

| LAHORE Emu, a bird found in the continent of Australia, has given birth to five young birds at Lahore Zoo. According to the Lahore Zoo administration, Female Emu had laid eight eggs out of which five young birds were hatched. The number of Emus has reached 10 now which include five young and five grown birds in the Lahore Zoo. Emu is the largest flightless bird found in Australia and is second to Ostrich which is found in the continent of Africa. Being a larger bird, its height can reach up to two metres (6 ft 7 inches) in height (1-1.3 metres (3.2-4.3 ft) at the shoulder) and weigh between 30 and 45 kilograms (66-100 pounds). They have small vestigial wings and a long neck and legs. They are known for their remarkable ability to run at high speed due to their highly specialised musculature. Their feet have only three toes. |
