| Japanese award conferred on Dr Wahab |

| Karachi The Japanese Consul-General held an elaborate function to celebrate the birthday and the coronation of the Emperor at his residence on Wednesday. The function was attended by the Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad, provincial ministers, members of the city’s diplomatic corps, business magnates, and the elite of the town. Dr Abdul Wahab was presented with Japan’s second most prestigious award, The Order of the Rising Sun, on behalf of the Emperor, as appreciation of his research into the Japanese methods of management. Japanese Consul-General Ikinori Wamadane presented the proclamation of distinction signed by the Japanese monarch to Dr Wahab which was read out first in Japanese and then in English. The Consul-General lauded the research and its academic application by Dr Wahab. In his acceptance speech, Dr. Wahab thanked the Japanese Foreign Minister and said that conferral of Japan’s second highest award on him was not only a honour for him but a moment of pride for the country as well. He said that British colonial system continued in our country to this day and there was need to adopt the Japanese system of management to make progress. Dr Wahab was later congratulated by the guests on the presentation of the award. |
