| 3,200 tonne waste removed By Our Correspondent LAHORE THE City District Government Lahore removed 3,200 tonnes of solid waste, including offal of sacrificial animals, from Shalamar Town on the eve of Eidul Azha. The waste was collected under the supervision of Shalamar Town coordinator and Union Council 23 Nazim Ghazali Salim Butt. Besides, MPA Chaudhry Shahbaz Ahmed also visited various areas of the town and monitored the work. Meanwhile, the residents of UC 23 hailed the sanitation activities carried out by the CDGL. Lesco to spend Rs 2b on system upgrade By Our Correspondent LAHORE THE Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) will spend Rs 2700 million to upgrade its power transmission system. A press release here on Tuesday added the company’s Chief Executive, Muhammad Azhar Iqbal, handed over pension papers to employees of the company whom retired in November. There, he directed that all formalities about the pensions should be completed well before the retirement of the employees every month to save them any hassle. No more fee for certificates By Our Correspondent LAHORE THE administration of Mayo Hospital has withdrawn charging fees for issuing experience certificate and other orders to young doctors of the hospital said a press release here on Tuesday by Young Doctors Association (YDA). It said the YDA thanked Medical Superintendent (MS for the favour. The statement said it was a practice since 1998 that Rs 100 or 200 were being charged for these certificates. It said that KEMU administration was still charging Rs 100 per certificate, Rs 50/ attestation and Rs 700/ transcript from young doctors in KEMU since 1998 despite repeated requests from YDA to withdraw the same as Mayo Hospital did. Traffic awareness By Our Correspondent LAHORE CHIEF Traffic Officer Syed Intizar Hussain Jafri has said that students can play a role in creating awareness about traffic and road safety rules among the citizens. According to a handout by the Capital City Traffic Police Office on Tuesday, he was addressing to the teachers and students at ìRoad Safety and Traffic Awareness Campî established by the Traffic Education Unit. He said the camps would also be set up in collaboration with civil society, scouts and traders in order to create moral sense in the citizens.
