| Islamabad Ambassador of Republic of Turkey M Babur Hizlan will visit Mingora today (Wednesday) to deliver a donation of school equipment for students. He will be accompanied by the Turkish defence attache and several Pakistani officials. When Commander Turkish Armed Forces General Ilker Basbug visited Pakistan between October 12 and 15, 2009, he also went to Mingora, where he was apprised of the needs of the students there. During that visit, he had pledged that the Turkish Armed Forces would make a donation of some equipment for the schools and students. On his return to Turkey, General Basbug initiated a donation campaign in order to help the suffering students. Donations collected in Turkey were transferred to Pakistan through two aircrafts of the Turkish Air Force on November 20. The following day, a small handing over ceremony was held at PAF Base, Chaklala, with the participation of Turkish Ambassador Babur Hizlan, head of the Turkish delegation Brigadier General Erdogan Akyol, and head of the Pakistani military authority Major General Muhammad Tahir Saeed. The donations will now be delivered to the schools in Mingora. |
