| LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has now shifted his focus from a ‘minus-one’ formula to ‘minus-all’ which he thinks is vital to save the Federation. In a chat with the PTI Youth Wing from Lahore at his residence on Saturday, he spoke his heart out. Imran, whose previous demand was merely confined to mid-term polls and resignation of NRO beneficiaries, has now changed his tune and is now calling for a ‘minus-all’ formula’. The formula also targets the PML-N — a major stakeholder in the present set-up. Sources revealed that most party members in Imran’s closest circle had time and again advised him not to target only the PPP as this would not help the PTI but instead benefit the PML-N, which enjoys power in the Punjab. Recently, during the party’s mass contact campaign when the party banners, flags and signboards were removed by the administration in a city where the PML-N calls the shots. Resultantly, Imran changed his tone. Now Imran he has come forward with a ‘minus all formula’ at a time when he is all set to re-launch his party’s mass contact campaign after recovery. Sources said Imran’s close aides also advised him that it was the PML-N and not the PPP whose vote bank could be shifted to the PTI and that he must focus on strengthening the party roots in Punjab where his party members were able to get a good number of votes from various constituencies despite no significant victory. The PTI could win only one National Assembly seat from Mianwali. Imran told party stalwarts at the meeting that the ‘minus-all’ formula had become inevitable as the system should be saved from ‘Mir Jaffers’ and ‘Mir Sadiqs’ of the current set up. He also told party members that the party’s popularity graph was rising after constant failures of rulers. |
