| LAHORE CHIEF Justice Khawaja Mohammad Sharif of the Lahore High Court taking suo motu action on torture and detention of lawyers by FIA Multan officials directed District Police Officer (DPO) and Deputy Director FIA Multan to appear before the court on November 20. The court directed them to appear with complete case record besides directing a law officer to ensure compliance of the court orders and appear and assist the court on next hearing. Earlier, four lawyers Mian Sajjad Ahmad Jangla, Qamar Khalid Alvi, Ali Raza, and Adnan Pervez Butt went to FIA office for obtaining some information. They reportedly hesitated for body search by the security personnel, which led to exchange of hot words and then the FIA staff allegedly beat the lawyers and also detained Mian Sajjad Ahmad Jangla in the office, who was later released by General Secretary of the Bar. The Chief Justice while taking suo motu action on the incident observed,”I will like to know about the actual facts of the matter and action if any taken by the executive authorities”. |
