Militants attack Bajaur checkpoints, kill tribesman’

KHAR: The security forces Sunday launched counteroffensive after the militants attacked checkpoints in various areas of Khar subdivision and killed a tribesman in Mamond tehsil of Bajaur Agency on Sunday. Official sources said that militants fired several rockets on the checkpoints in different areas of Khar. The rockets targeted military and government installations in Khar, headquarters of Bajaur Agency. The security forces imposed curfew and launched search operation in the area. The forces also targeted hideouts of militants in the nearby areas with artillery guns, but there was no word on loss of life. The militants, the sources said, shot dead a tribesman, Sherzai, and blew up his house in Belot area of Mamond tehsil. His body was found at a desolate place near Belot village. Meanwhile, the troops and political administration have beefed up security at all the entry and exit points and intensive checking of vehicles and frisking of individuals was being carried out in the tribal agency.
