India claims arresting Pakistani ‘spy’

NEW DELHI: A suspected Pakistani ‘spy’ was arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport here early on Sunday, Indian home ministry sources claimed. “He is being interrogated and it is still not clear what he was doing in India,” an official said. “We are trying to ascertain his antecedents,” the official said. He did not elaborate when the suspect had arrived in India or whether he had genuine travel documents.



US ’copters violate Pak airspace

LANDIKOTAL: Two helicopters of the United States again violated Pakistan’s airspace near the Torkham border and intruded into the Khyber Agency, sources in the area said. The choppers flew over the Pakistani territory for sometime before returning to Afghanistan. In recent days, US planes have been violating Pakistan’s airspace without being challenged by the country’s armed forces, sources claimed.



CCTV footage of Peshawar blast released

PESHAWAR: The CCTV footage of deadly suicide car bombing on Pestakhara police-post, leaving 13 people dead and dozens others injured, was released to the media on Sunday.

According to the footage, the suicide bomber in an Alto car packed with explosive material came and rammed into the police check-post when a policeman intercepted it, minutes after it crossed the Ring Road. The footage also shows a Corolla car and a flying-coach being destroyed in the blast.



HYDERABAD: Two sub-divisional officers (SDOs) of operation sub-divisions of the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) have been suspended following complaints of power theft against them.

One held on human smuggling charges

ABBOTTABAD: The Punjab Police on Sunday arrested the owner of a private company for robbing several persons of their hard-earned money on the pretext of sending them abroad. Sources said that Rana Muhammad Imran, owner of the Khadeja Enterprise, allegedly took Rs 800,000 from Muhammad Sajjad, Rizwan, Qaiser Waheed and Muhammad Afzal and promised to send them to Azerbaijan. Sources said Rana Imran disappeared after collecting the money from the people. However, the four affected persons searched for him in Lahore where the police arrested him while his brother Rana Irfan escaped, sources said.
