| Five soldiers, 2 militants injured in Bajaur clashes |

| KHAR: Five security personnel and two militants were injured in clashes and bomb blast in various areas of Bajaur Agency, tribal sources said on Tuesday. Also, the security forces arrested 45 suspected persons and recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition during search operation in Mamond and Nawagai subdivisions. The sources said that militants attacked checkpoints in Bar Khalozo and Meena Mor areas in Mamond tehsil. “The forces repulsed the attacks and two militants were injured in the clashes,” an official source said. The security forces also defused an explosive device planted by militants at roadside in Tarkho area of Mamond. A soldier sustained injuries when security forces and militants clashed in Mulla Said area in Salarzai subdivision. In another incident, the militants attacked the vehicle of Bajaur Levies force in Nawagai Khas with a remote-controlled bomb that left four personnel injured. The vehicle was damaged in the blast, the sources said, adding that the wounded personnel were shifted to the Agency Headquarters Hospital, Khar. The security forces also conducted search operation in various areas of Mamond and Nawagai tehsils. They arrested 45 suspected persons and recovered small and heavy weapons including explosives during the action. Meanwhile, the elders of Salarzai tribe have assured the political administration and security forces of their full support in their ongoing efforts to establish writ of the government and purge the area of militants. The elders from Darra, Banda, Ghundai, Chinar and Sor Dagay areas in Salarzai tehsil during a jirga in Khar said they had been supporting the government and would do so in the future. They resolved that nobody would be allowed to carry out sabotage activities in their area. |
