THERE has been no loadshedding all across the country since three days, as the shortfall between the demand and supply has come down to zero.

The total generation of the country’s power system is 11198MW and the demand is exactly the same.

The loadshedding is only being carried out in the furnaces and power looms and that too only for four hours.

The zero loadshedding in the country is only due to the start of the winter, as the minimum average temperature has come down to 15C and the average maximum temperature is around 27C.

Due to this pleasant weather, the airconditioners’ load, which previously made about 4-5000MW in country’s power system, had almost become zero.

Another notable development was the inauguration of Nishat Power Plant 200MW which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani on Saturday.

The people from different areas of the city said that the inclusion of Nishat Power Plant was a good development but the government should have started building the hydro electric power projects because they were cheap and the country had a large potential of producing hydro power from two of its rivers, Indus and Jhelum.
