| LAKKI MARWAT: Expressing deep concern over the failure of district administration Bannu and law enforcement agencies to secure the safe recovery of a kidnapped doctor and his minor son, the doctors here announced to observe a token strike from Friday. The Pakistan Doctors Association, Lakki Marwat chapter, held a meeting in this connection on the premises of the City Hospital with PDA President Dr Abdul Razzaq in the chair.General secretary Dr Ibrahim Iqbal, Dr Falak Naz, Dr Taj Nawaz, Dr Ghulam Nabi, Dr Akbar Jan, Dr Ismael Iqbal and a representative of paramedics association Rashid Ahmad attended the meeting. “Increase in kidnapping incidents is alarming but concerned government’s organisations are doing nothing to curb such heinous crimes,” the participants of the meeting said. They said despite repeated requests by the doctor community, the administration had so far failed to trace Dr Ihsanullah and his minor son. “Though Bannu district administration has assured a delegation of doctors to intensify efforts for the recovery of the abducted doctor, however, no serious steps are being taken so far,” one of the doctors said. “The rise in abduction incidents is a matter of concern and doctors feel insecure at the hands of criminals and kidnapping gangs in the region,” he said. The meeting decided that doctors would launch a three-day strike for one hour in all the state-run and private health facilities from today (Friday). However, emergency coverage would not suffer due to the strike. The participants of the meeting thanked the doctor community of Tank, Bannu and Mardan for extending full support to them. |
