Mian Moainuddin, son of Syed Fazal Wahid, has been serving as medical officer at the National Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine (NIRM), previously known as National Institute for Handicapped, without having any registration of the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC).

He is the real brother of Salahuddin, Naseeruddin and Allauddin who managed to get appointed as medical officers at the District Headquarters Hospital in April 2009 allegedly on fake documents. At present, an inquiry is being conducted into their appointments on the intervention of Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif.

‘The News’ learnt that Moainuddin succeeded in getting paid house job at the Holy Family Hospital first from October 1, 1999 to June 30, 2000 and then from October 1, 2000 to December 31, 2000 on the basis of ‘fake documents’. He allegedly prepared ‘fake provisional registration certificate’ of the PMDC to get the house jobs at the ENT Department of the HFH.

‘The News’ learnt that Moainuddin succeeded in getting job as medical officer at the Federal Government Services Hospital (Poly Clinic) in 2007. In 2009, his services were transferred to the NIRM as medical officer. However to date he could not manage to get registration from the PMDC.

The PMDC officials confirmed to ‘The News’ that the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council had never registered a doctor by the name of Mian Moainuddin, s/o Syed Fazal Wahid.

When ‘The News’ contacted Moainuddin on his mobile phone on Wednesday, he asked why a journalist has called him. When this correspondent asked him to provide his PMDC registration number if he has any, he hid his identity and pretended to be Sheraz, a friend of Dr. Moainuddin and Dr. Jamaluddin. “Both doctor brothers had gone to the Mohmand Agency and they would be back after two days,” he said, adding that he would give a message to the brothers to contact ‘The News’.

When ‘The News’ contacted the concerned officials at NIRM, they said that Dr. Moainuddin has been on duty at the NIRM on Wednesday. ‘The News’ learnt that the NIRM had asked Moainuddin to submit his documents, including the PMDC registration certificate, till Thursday (today).

The documents, which Moainuddin submitted to the Holy Family Hospital to get house jobs, included a ‘diploma’ showing him as an MD (Doctor of Medicine) from the Kabul Medical Institute, who graduated in 1996, a certificate showing that he cleared Grade 12 in 1987 from Khushal Khan High School, Kabul, Afghanistan, and a marks sheet showing that he had cleared the SSC examination, also in session 1987, from the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Peshawar, securing 328 marks out of 850.
