| Karachi The police and the Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) have been asked by Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfikar Ali Mirza to formulate a joint strategy and for the security of traders and trucks bringing sacrificial animals for Eidul Azha and to identify people entering Sindh. Patrolling, picketing and checking systems should be made effective, Dr Mirza said, adding that makeshift control rooms should be established at cattle markets and reserve platoons and bomb disposal squads should be deployed on these locations. He further said that security was dependent on the active presence of intelligence organisations; liaison with them should therefore be promoted.Peaceful citizens, however, should not be harassed, the home minister said. Moreover, a comprehensive traffic management plan should be formulated, and the deployment of traffic policemen and officials should be ensured at various routes leading to cattle markets, busy roundabouts and alternative routes, Dr Mirza said. Meanwhile, Zulfikar Mirza has condemned the bomb blast in Rawalpindi and directed the police to remain alert and to tighten security at all hotels, private and public banks, money exchange centres and public places. |
