| Karachi All parties benefited from the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO); it also helped people, who had been exiled for 10 years, to return to Pakistan under a deal, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah said on Monday, without naming Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif. These NRO beneficiaries are now “playing politics,” Shah said. Talking to journalists after inaugurating the “one-window service” for pensioners at the Accountant General (AG) Sindh’s office, the CM said that the former military dictator got cases registered against Benazir Bhutto and other political leaders. Under different laws, cases were also lodged on political grounds against other leaders. Shah added that Benazir Bhutto’s struggle forced the military ruler to doff his uniform and end emergency. Terrorists have started a guerrilla war and the nation had to prepare itself for it, the CM said, adding that concrete steps had been taken in Sindh to prevent terrorism. The shortage of sugar in the country and especially in Sindh had been created artificially, and sugar mills will hopefully start their crushing season from November 15, Shah said. He added that action had been taken against people involved in hoarding sugar and thousands of bags had been recovered. Shah said that Sindh government employees face a lot of inconvenience in getting their pensions; he hoped that the launch of the one-window service will help resolve such cases immediately and to the satisfaction of the pensioners. |
