| LHC moved against Nawaz By our correspondent LAHORE: The Lahore High Court was moved on Friday against PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif’s meddling in the Punjab government’s affairs, seeking the constitution of a larger bench to hear a long-pending petition to bar Nawaz from contesting elections. The petitioner, Pir Imran Ali, submitted in his application that Nawaz Sharif was not an elected representative but he had been passing orders to the Punjab government officials and using its resources without lawful authority. He said in 1990, Nawaz Sharif and his colleagues had illegally transferred over two million dollars abroad. He stated that his petition was heard by a five-member bench headed by the then Chief Justice Mian Allah Nawaz but was still awaiting judgment. 11 seminary students held in Hyderabad By our correspondent HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Police arrested 11 seminary student from Madrasa Shamsul Uloom from Khawja Gharib Nawaz Colony near the vegetable market here on Friday night. The CID of the Hyderabad Police nabbed these seminary students over suspicion and took them to an unknown location.The names of those arrested were not available and investigation were underway. These students arrived from the NWFP last night. Two schools, hospital blown up in Orakzai By Syed Hassan Mehmood KALAYA: Unidentified militants blew up two schools and a health unit in Shahukhel area of the Orakzai Agency early Friday. Tribal sources said explosive devices planted in buildings of the Government High School for Boys, Waqas Public School and Basic Health Unit at Shahukhel village went off at 4 am. They said nine rooms of the two schools and two rooms of the health unit were completely destroyed. Indian spy held from Kasur sector By our correspondent LAHORE: Pakistan Rangers arrested an Indian national, said to be a RAW agent, from the Kasur sector border area on Friday.According to a press release, the suspect was identified as Kashwa Baghwan, 25, son of Chantan Wan, of village Manipur. This was the third arrest of this nature in one week. The accused was handed over to intelligence agencies for investigations. |
