| Hoti renews resolve to root out terrorism |

| PESHAWAR: NWFP Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti reiterated Monday that the provincial government in consensus with federal government and military leadership in rooting out terrorism from the province. Addressing a ceremony organised in honour of the Emergency Response Unit (ERU), national and international welfare organisations’ staff and volunteers at Frontier House, he lauded their efforts for facilitating the internally displaced persons’ (IDPs) accommodation in makeshift camps and later rehabilitation process in Swat, Buner and Lower Dir. An official handout said senior NWFP ministers Rahimdad Khan, Bashir Ahmad Bilour, provincial ministers Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Arbab Ayub Jan, Syed Aqil Shah, Arshad Abdullah, Ayub Ashari, Saleem Khan, Sher Azam, Zarshed Khan, Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel, Liaqat Shabab, Hidayatullah, Nimroz Khan, Chief Secretary Javed Iqbal, Peshawar Commissioner Muhammad Azam Khan and others were also present on the occasion. Hoti said the ERU, national and international organisations and volunteers did a great job for the three million displaced people of Malakand division by providing them accommodation, registration and prompt rehabilitation facilities at tent villages and later when they left for hometowns. The chief minister said the rehabilitation phase of affected people in troubled districts of Malakand division was more vital and painstaking than the IDPs accommodation at relief camps and their repatriation. He said the provincial government would utilize all available resources to reconstruct the affected areas of Malakand division and rehabilitate its residents. He thanked the federal government, Pak army, Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan governments, National Disaster Management Authority, National Database and Registration Authority, Provincial Relief Commissioner, UN Organizations and non-government welfare organizations on behalf of the provincial government and people for their assistance in meeting the challenge of IDPs. The chief minister praised the officials of World Food Programme who were still busy in relief activities in the province despite being targeted twice by terrorists. |
