| Rawalpindi The Rawalpindi Tehasil has approved a total of 17,250 registries including power of attorneys for the allotment of lands and properties during the period from January to October 2009, while it rejected 1,449 cases terming them as fake. Deputy District Officer (Registration) Syed Shafqat Raza told ‘The News’ that he had cancelled the cases because people could not fulfil the legal requirements as per government procedure. People should get ‘Ownership Fard’ and both parties should come before him at the time of registry or transferring power of attorneys for statements, he said. He warned the clients not to pay extra money to any body against the fixed government fee to fulfil legal requirements. The legal requirements for registry or transferring power of attorney are that clients should pay 2% stamp duty and 1% registration fee on the total amount. They should pay only Rs200 including Capital Value Tax (CVT) if necessary as ‘Intiqaal’ fee. After fulfilling the necessary requirements client should get registry or power of attorney easily, he said. He warned the clients to avoid touts wandering in the district courts and tehsil areas. Clients should directly come to his office for resolving their genuine problem adding that he would sign the documents on merit, he assured. He also said that if clients have any complaint against his staff they should inform him assuring that he would take immediate action against them. A survey conducted by ‘The News’ revealed that there is a great rush of clients in thee registry department in District Courts and Rawalpindi Tehsil. Presently (DDO) Registration Shafqat Raza is handling the matter of Cantonment and Tehsil areas. The former officer who was handling the Cantonment areas has been transferred, but still his seat is vacant therefore DDO (Registration) is all alone handling the matters related to registry and power of attorney. Due to sensitivity of cases, the concerned officer is minutely checking the documents in the best interest of clients. The clients hailed the concerned registry department and told ‘The News’ that whole staff is fully cooperating with them and they are getting registries or power of attorney documents within two days. Aftab Ahmed Shaikh, a client in the District Courts Rawalpindi, told ‘The News’ that he paid government fee for getting registry of 10 marla plot. “Touts tried to misguide me, but I approached the concerned officer who minutely checked the documents and summoned both the parties for statements and signed the documents easily on the occasion, he said. |
