KHAIRPUR: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has summoned presidents and general secretaries of all districts of the People’s Lawyers Forum (PLF) at the CM House in Karachi on Tuesday (today) to chalk out a strategy for the forthcoming Sindh Bar Council election.

The News has learnt from reliable sources that Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro’s efforts had been failed to get support of different Bar members in favour of the PLF-backed candidates. He met Qaim recently to devise a strategy to get support of Bar councils.

Sources said Ayaz conveyed to Qaim that if the grievances of the PLF lawyers were not addressed before the election, the forum might have to face defeat in the upcoming Sindh Bar Council election.

According to the sources, differences emerged among the PLF members over the nomination of candidates. They said the PLF presidents and general secretaries had serious concerns over the appointment of assistant advocates general and additional advocates general. They believe that the chief minister and the law minister did not take PLF representatives into confidence while making such appointments. The PLF members have also reservations over fresh appointments in various departments of Sindh, as the forum’s recommended candidates were ignored by the authorities, the sources added.

During the meeting at the CM House, the sources said, Qaim would try to cool them down and take them into confidence on nomination of final candidates for the Sindh Bar Council. A strategy would also be chalked out to gain maximum support for the PLF candidates.
