| PPP not sole beneficiary of NRO: Khurshid |

| LAHORE Federal Minister for Labour and Manpower Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah has said the PPP is not the sole beneficiary of the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) as 2,900 political figures of the PML-N, MQM and other political parties also ëbenefited from the ordinance. He was talking to media men at a reception hosted by the federal minister for the Industries and Production minister, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo. He said most of the workers from different parties had benefited from NRO, adding the Parliament would decide the fate of the issue. He said that Pakistan had convinced the US over the issue, adding the government would neither make any compromise on the nuclear assets, nor allow any one to intervene in the military issues. He said the US had accepted Pakistan’s conditions regarding Kerry-Lugar Law. When asked to comment over the removal of Latif Khosa from the post of Attorney General, he said the decision was taken because the government did want any confrontation with the judiciary. To a query about the forthcoming Zardari-Nawaz meeting, he said the meeting was being held in connection with the implementation of the Charter of Democracy (CoD). Senior Punjab Minister Raja Riaz, Haji Aziz ur Rehman Chan, Munir Ahmed Khan, Ajmal Hashmi and other party workers were also present. Concern over delay in employees’ reinstatement: Federal Minister for Labour and Manpower Khurshid Shah has assured party workers to take notice of the delay in the reinstatement of the employees sacked from the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) in 1997. When informed about the delay in the reinstatement despite the central governmentís announcement, the federal minister during interaction with the PPP members at the Governorís House on Saturday, expressed deep concern over the issue, sources revealed. PPP Punjab leaders including General Secretary Sami Ullah Khan, Aurangzeb Barki, MPA Sajia Mir, Mian Ayub and other party leaders were also present. The issue was raised by PPP MPA Sajida Mir who complaint that so far 550 sacked employees of the Sui Northern needed to be reinstated and the delay was invoking undue criticism. Criticising the bureaucracy, the party workers said the government needed to take concrete steps to prevent a few baboos from implementing the decisions of the government. Admiring the commitment of the Punjab PPP workers, the federal minister assured the party members to address their grievances soon, the sources said. They said the party members also apprised the minister about the problems faced by them in the coalition with the PML-N. The PPP Punjab office bearers complained that no minister paid heed to the organizational affairs of the PPP, saying the federal cabinet members had not visited the partyís provincial secretariat. They said Punjab was significant in all the situations and it needed the party’s due attention. The party has strong footing in the province, he said. |
