| Karachi Despite the Karachi Electric Supply Company’s (KESC) claim about its power generation units remaining normal and the electricity shortfall stood at 80 Megawatt (MW), people in several areas of the city suffered four to five spells of power load shedding on Friday. According to a KESC spokesperson, the power demand remained at 1862MW while the KESC supplied 1782MW. The Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) supplied 630 MW of electricity to the KESC through the national grid and the independent power producers collectively produced 237MW. The Karachi Nuclear and Power Plant remained offline while the KESC received 215MMFCD gas from the Sui Southern Gas Company. In several residential localities of the city, after persistent power breakdowns on late Friday night, load shedding continued throughout Saturday, adding to the citizens’ woes. |
