Tribal sources said that security forces continued search operation against militants in Charmang valley. They said that three militants were killed and as many injured when they challenged the security forces in the valley.
Similarly, three soldiers and two civilians, whose names could not be ascertained, sustained injuries when roadside bombs planted by militants went off in Loi Jowar and Mamond tehsil, respectively.
Meanwhile, at least 12 militants laid down arms and surrendered to security forces in Mamond tehsil. The sources said that fierce clashes were going on between the security forces and militants in Mulla Said area of Salarzai subdivision. They said that security forces were pounding the militant positions with artillery and gunship helicopters. No casualty, however, was reported in the action.
The security forces also continued distribution of food items among the affected people of Salarzai, Nawagai and Mamond subdivisions.
