Red alert in Sindh: IGP

Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh, Sultan Sallahuddin Babar Khattak has ordered the Regional Police Officers of Hyderabad, Sukkur and CCPO Karachi to ensure extraordinary security measures in the province, in view of the recent terror attacks in Punjab, Islamabad and NWFP.

In a directive issued on Friday, the IGP Sindh said a red alert should be declared in the entire province and the leaves of all law enforcement agencies personnel should be cancelled with immediate effect.

He also directed commandants of the police training centers to make their own security arrangements to save their training centers.

The IGP directed officials to tighten the security of all important places including embassies, the residential areas of important personnel, important personalities, mosques, Imambargahs, hotels, shopping centers, entertainment areas, railway stations, airports, seminaries and educational institutes.

The Provincial Police Officer said the commandants in the training institutes of Sindh are highly professional and experienced and they would make their own security strategies for their training centers.

He said police officials would enhance their contacts local people in order to counter any terrorist activity in their respective areas.

Earlier, the IGP expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of lives in Lahore, Peshawar and Kohat attacks and prayed for the early recovery of the injured.
