Wakhi Festival from October 21

Islamabad

Lok Virsa, National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage is holding ‘Wakhi Cultural Festival’ here from October 21-25 featuring the living style of people from Gilgit-Baltistan region. The objective of the festival is to explore various facets of Wakhi culture and develop the understanding of the people about the unique characteristics and history of Wakhi culture. “This event will pave way for documentation, research and preservation of history, language, arts and crafts of Wakhi people living in Gilgit Baltistan region,” said Executive Director Lok Virsa, Khalid Javaid. Around 60 artisans are invited to colour the grounds of Lok Virsa with their arts, crafts, dances, food and traditions.



Police to collect data of tenants

After attack on General Headquarters, Rawalpindi Police have decided to collect the data of tenants living in the city. According to police sources, the owner of house would not give his house on rent without submitting the information of tenants to the concerned police station.



Quaid-e-Millat death anniversary on Friday

Islamabad

Government has decided to commemorate the 58th death anniversary of Quaid-e-Millat late Liaquat Ali Khan on October 16 (Friday) in a befitting manner in order to pay due homage to the leader. The flag of Pakistan will be hoisted at half-mast on all principal government buildings throughout the country. Moreover, Sindh government will make special arrangements for Fateha Khawani at the tomb of Quaid-e-Millat, says a press release here Tuesday. The federal government will make all necessary arrangements in order to provide an opportunity to the general public to participate in the commemoration ceremony in large numbers.



CJ calls report over woman’s complaint

Islamabad: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Tuesday directed the Punjab PPO to submit a follow up report within a fortnight on a woman’s complaint about her son been kidnapped by his employer. He issued the direction on an application, submitted by the woman, who is a resident of Multan Road, Lahore, a court press release said.The woman requested her son, Mehmood Asghar, to be recovered from the custody of his employer. She stated that while nobody helped her in the recovery of her son, the accused has threatened her of dire consequences.
