GHALLANAI: One person was killed and three others, including two girls of a family, were injured when an artillery shell struck their house in Ghair Dhand area in Baizai Tehsil of Mohmand Agency on Tuesday.
Couple seeks protection

HYDERABAD: A newly-wedded couple on Tuesday sought protection and security while addressing a news conference. Reema married Mohammad Zubair of Mukhi Bagh area of Hyderabad in the limits of Phuleli police station of their free will at a court on Oct 2. The bride said her brother has got registered a fake case of kidnapping against her husband and wanted her to get married to a person which she refused and escaped to marry Zubair.
Slain commando laid to rest
GILGIT: Naik Muhammad Ayub Shaheed of the SSG, who embraced Shahadat in the operation to rescue hostages from the GHQ, was laid to rest in Hunza on Tuesday. He has left behind a widow and an infant daughter. General Officer Commanding Maj-Gen Muzammil Hussain, chief secretary Gilgit-Baltistan, the IGP and a large number of civil and military officers and citizens attended the funeral.
Man arrested for killing wife
MIAN CHANNU: Police arrested a man on charges of killing his wife in village 15/105-L near here on Tuesday. Samreen, a resident of Kasowal, was married to Muhammad Sadiq Arian three months back. He allegedly tortured her to death over some domestic issue.
Would-be bomber held in Nowshera

NOWSHERA: The police claimed to have arrested a would-be suicide bomber from a sensitive area here on Tuesday. Official sources said a police party during routine patrol arrested a 15-year-old suspected suicide bomber, Lali Gul, hailing from Swat district. He was wandering about suspiciously near the ammunition depot in Badrashi area. The sources said a suicide vest was also seized and the suspect was handed over to the personnel of an intelligence agency for interrogation.
