Four militants, soldier killed in Bajaur action

KHAR: Four militants including a commander and one soldier were killed and two others injured in a clash in Bajaur Agency Saturday.

Sources said that the clash took place between the militants and security forces in Lagharai area of Mamond tehsil, wherein four militants including an important commander, Munsif alias Mangalay, were killed.

One paramilitary personnel was also killed and two others injured in the clash.

Reports from the area said that more troops had been sent to the agency headquarters, Khar, and the operation was continuing till the filing of this report.

Paramilitary forces closed all routes leading to Mamond tehsil, besides imposing curfew for an indefinite period at Siddiqabad Phatak Road, Inayat Killay Bazaar and Bhai Cheena Road.

Sources said that a large number of people had started migration from Mamond tehsil to safer areas.

The security forces launched the operation against militants after the lapse of Friday’s deadline set by the political administration asking tribal elders to hand over suspected persons to the government

Meanwhile, people started shifting to their homes in Charmang area of Nawagai tehsil after the security forces cleared the area of militants.
