PESHAWAR: Zoriya Bibi, who lost her legs in the US missile strike on a seminary in Chinagai village in Mamond Tehsil in Bajaur Agency in 2006, is leading a miserable life at the Jalozai camp in Nowshera district after her family was displaced by the military operation in her native area.

Her home and that of her five children, three sons and two daughters, is now a tent in the camp with two string-beds, a mat and some household belongings. Her eldest son, Fazal Haq, is a labourer who occasionally finds work to try and support the family.

Zoriya Bibi’s woes began in December 2006 when US drones fired missiles at a seminary located near her house in Bajaur’s Chinagai village in Damadola area. The missiles killed 83 students and their teachers and caused injuries to several others.
