| Curfew relaxation extended in Swat areas |

| MINGORA: The security forces Monday extended the curfew relaxation period to facilitate the residents for carrying out their routine activities till late night following further improvement in the situation in Swat. Also, the security forces claimed to have arrested 10 more militants while nine surrendered in different areas of the valley.A spokesman for the Army-run Swat Media Centre (SMC) said economic activities in the twin towns of Mingora and Saidu Sharif were being gradually restored. In Mingora and its suburbs, curfew will remain relaxed from 6 am to 1 am and in Kabal from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. “The extension will allow more time to the businessmen to keep their outlets open till late,” the spokesman said.Meanwhile, the militants continued to surrender while the security forces also arrested several suspected members of the Taliban during the search and clearance operations in different areas of Swat. Security forces, according to the daily update of the Inter-Services Public Relations, conducted search operation in Pirano, Palai and Dargai areas in Malakand Agency and arrested 17 suspected militants, including an Afghan national. The security forces also torched houses of three militants identified as Fida, Bakhtiar and Inayat. The update said in Swat five militants surrendered to the security forces in Dewlai, two in Shahdhand Banda and one each in Bar Shawar (Matta) and Kabal. It added that five militants were apprehended in Tiligram near Manglawar. |
