ISLAMABAD: The Chaudhrys of Gujrat and former chairman NRB Daniyal Aziz will meet here on Wednesday to discuss the issue of local bodies and most probably form an alliance to campaign for the survival of the system.

The MQM has already declared it will not support the abolition of the existing LBs system and has attended conventions led by Daniyal and Nazims from across the country. The former NRB chairman, local representatives and the MQM adopted an eight-point resolution for the sustainability of the LBs. The Chaudhrys joined the campaign several months later.

“Not only Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Pervaiz Elahi, but also our organisational leadership would be present in the meeting to be held on September 33,” Daniyal confirmed. “Our point of view is simple that the PML-Q must join our ranks under the Jeeye Pakistan Movement to ensure that the LBs issue is not politicised, as the local governments must stay to get rid of the bureaucratic system,” he added.

Daniyal, who quit the PML-Q after candidates were fielded against him by the Chaudhrys for an NA seat, said: “We will welcome the Chaudhrys if they agree to our eight-point agenda, adopted in a convention.” He said the JI and the PTI were already supporting his movement.
