| Arms banned in Bajaur, 39 held |

| KHAR: In a joint action, the political administration and the Bajaur Scouts detained 39 tribesmen under the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) and banned sale and display of arms, besides sealing 216 shops at Shangais Market in Khar Bazaar on Tuesday. On the special directives of Bajaur Political Agent Zakir Hussain Afridi and Bajaur Scouts Commandant Col Nauman Saeed, Assistant Political Agent of Khar Subdivision Iqbal Khan Khattak and Political Tehsildar Adalat Khan, along with a heavy contingent of Bajaur Scouts, conducted a search operation in Khar Bazaar and closed down 216 shops, including 18 arms shops, in Shangais Market. The authorities also announced a ban on display and sale of weapons in the agency and warned the violators of stern action. At least, 39 tribesmen were arrested under the FCR’s collective responsibility section during the crackdown and were detained in Khar jail. More raids were being conducted to apprehend the miscreants and outlaws. Meanwhile, the administration has deployed fresh contingents of Bajaur Scouts at various entry and exit points to check the movement of miscreants in the tribal agency. |
