Dr Nuri honoured by Strathmore’s Who’s Who

Dr. Maqsudul Hasan Nuri, Acting President of Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI), has been honoured by Strathmore’s Who’s Who with his nomination for ‘Princeton Premier’ Global Networks Honour for 2009-2010.

According to a press release, Strathmore’s Who’s Who every year recognises and selects key executives, professionals and organisations in all disciplines and industries for outstanding business and professional achievements.

Dr. Nuri has worked as Senior Research Fellow from October 2002- January 2009. Concurrently, he is also Visiting Faculty at Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi.

Dr. Nuri holds PhD (International Studies) from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, USA; MA (International Relations) from The Australian National University, Canberra, and MSc (International Relations) from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad.

Previously, he had served as Senior Research Officer at Institute of Regional Studies, Islamabad, Research Consultant to the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR), Abu Dhabi, UAE and commissioned officer in Army from 1966-1974.

He is recipient of research fellowships from Institute of Security and Development Policy (ISDP), Stockholm, Sweden; The Graduate Institute of International Studies, Geneva, Switzerland; ACDIS Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; Henry L. Stimson Center, Washington, D.C; Copenhagen Peace Research Institute (COPRI), Denmark, Deutsche Orient Institute (DOI) Hamburg, and South Asian Center, University of Heidelberg, Germany.

He has attended a number of national and international conferences and published widely. He has lectured at major institutions in Pakistan and abroad.His areas of interest are related to defence and security issues of the Gulf, South and Central Asia.
