| 20 educators to get training in US |

| Islamabad An orientation programme was hosted by Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi for a group of 20 educators here before their departure for United States. The educators will participate in Pakistani Educational Leadership Institute (PELI), at the Plymouth State University (PSU) from July 4 to August 4. This is the sixth batch of educators who will get training in United States. PSU has trained 100 Pakistani educators so far in five summer workshops. PELI matches the resources of its college of graduate studies and taps its expertise to teach innovative practices in environmental education, interdisciplinary curriculum and science education. The programme trains participants to apply the content in their own unique Pakistani context in creative ways that will teach critical thinking skills to students and will benefit the larger community. This programme is funded by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Idara-e-Taleem- o-Aagahi, a Lahore-based NGO is the Pakistani partner organization with the Plymouth State University in the US. According to data collected by the ITA, the 100 PELI alumni have acted as master trainers and trained a total of 125,000 educators to date. The participants have been selected on merit basis from all over Pakistan. It is a diverse group of men and women from Lasbella in Balochistan, FATA and other cities of Pakistan including Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore. Constance Jones United States Cultural Attache to Pakistan and Shahid Ahmed Additional Secretary Education distributed the tickets and training kits among the participants. |
