The residents of majority of localities particularly settled in tail ends are deprived of gas round the clock for the last couple of days. Earlier, supply of gas continued during schedule hours in the morning as well as evening, however during last two days the residents of Munawar Colony, Defence Road, Adiala Road, Banni, Jamia Masjid Road, Morgha, Chamanzar Colony, Gulistan Colony, Dhoke Kala Khan, Muhallah Naik Alam, Babar, Jarahi, Kalyal, Kurri Road, People’s Colony, Bagh Sardaran, Habib Colony, Sultan Pura, Shalley Valley, Hazara Colony, Krishan Pura, Sultan Nagar, Shah Chan Cherag, Chittian Hattian, Akalgarh, Dhoke Paracha and New Lalazar are facing zero gas pressure once again in this regard.

On the other hand, the SNGPL has claimed trying to improve gas pressure but cold weather for some days particularly in morning and night time is not allowing them to do so. The recent rain and snowfall has led to a sudden drop in mercury level in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

The affected residents on Saturday came out on roads appealing to the concerned authorities to improve the situation.

The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) General Manager (Rawalpindi Circle) Muhammad Zahoor told ‘The News’ that chilly weather has affected the supply of gas. The SNGPL staff is continuously trying to improve gas pressure in residential areas but majority of consumers are using compressors to suck gas pressure.

He said that they have started action against user of compressors imposing fines and registering FIRs. “Now we have disconnected more than 100 connections of ‘compressor’ users,” he warned.
