Gen Raheel confirms death sentence to 12 terrorists

Convicts belong to TTP, al Qaeda, Sipah-e-Sahaba

RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Thursday confirmed the death sentences awarded to another 12 hardcore terrorists who were involved in committing heinous offences relating to terrorism, including the Bannu jailbreak, attacks on the armed forces, law enforcement agencies and civilians.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the convicts were tried by the military courts. Those who have been awarded death penalty included Muhammad Arbi, s/o Hafiz Muhammad Sadiq. The convict was an active member of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He was involved in abetting the attack on the Bannu Jail owing to which a large number of terrorists managed to escape from the jail and also caused injuries to police constables and soldiers. He was also involved in attacking law enforcement agencies, which caused death and injuries to soldiers. He admitted his offences before the magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on three charges and awarded death sentence.

Another convict, Rafi Ullah, s/o Muhammad Miskeen, was an active member of the Sipah-e-Sahaba. He was involved in abetting the murder of Syed Waqar Haider and causing injury to Abdul Sattar Tahir in Lahore. He was tried on two charges and awarded a death sentence.

Qari Asif Mehmood, s/o Muhammad Anwar: The convict was an active member of Sipah-e-Sahaba. He was involved in abetting the murder of Syed Waqar Haider and causing injury to Abdul Sattar Tahir in Lahore. He was also in possession of firearms and explosives. He was tried on four charges and awarded a death sentence.

Shawaleh, s/o Gul Khan, is another convict. He was an active member of the TTP. He was involved in attacking law enforcement agency, which caused death and injuries to soldiers. He admitted his offences before the magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on three charges and awarded death sentence.

Another convict is Muhammad Zeeshan, s/o Abdul Qayyum Khan. The convict was an active member of al-Qaeda. He was involved in attacking the armed forces, which resulted in death and injuries to soldiers. He admitted his offence before the magistrate and the trial court. He was tried and awarded death sentence.

Nasir Khan, s/o Khan Afsar Khan, is another convict. He was an active member of al-Qaeda. He was involved in attacking the armed forces, which resulted in death and injuries to soldiers. He admitted his offences before the magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on three charges and awarded death sentence.

Another convict is Shoukat Ali, s/o Abdul Jabbar. The convict was an active member of Ali S/o Abdul Jabbar. The convict was an active member of TTP. He was involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agency and Armed Forces which resulted in death and injuries to soldiers. He admitted his offenses before the magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 5 charges and awarded death sentence.

Imdadullah S/o Abdul Wajid is another convict as he was an active member of TTP. He was involved in destruction of educational institutions in District Buner and attacking Law Enforcement Agency which resulted in death and injuries to soldiers. He admitted his offenses before the magistrate and the trial court.

He was tried on 5 charges and awarded death sentence. Muhammad Umar S/o Saida Jan was the convict who was an active member of TTP. He was involved in destruction of an educational institution in Pakistan and attacking Armed Forces which resulted in death and injuries to soldiers. He admitted his offenses before the magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 5 charges and awarded death sentence.

Sabir Shah S/o Syed Ahmed Shah is another convict as he was an active member of TTP. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces which resulted in death of soldiers. He admitted his offenses before the magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 3 charges and awarded death sentence.

Khandan S/o Dost Muhammad Khan was another convict as he was an active member of TTP. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces which resulted in death and injuries to soldiers. He admitted his offenses before the magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 3 charges and awarded death sentence.

Anwar Ali S/o Fazal Ghani is another convict as he was an active member of TTP. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces which resulted in death and injuries to soldiers. He admitted his offenses before the magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 3 charges and awarded death sentence.
