ISLAMABAD: Pakistan athletes have failed to win a single gold so far in track and field events where India and Sri Lanka rule continued even on Thursday in the 12th South Asian Games in Guwahati (India).

Pakistan men athletes that had habit of picking up gold medals during the SA Games previously, failed to impress and even the best of potential players including Shakeel Ahmad (hammer throw) could only manage silver.

On Thursday, Pakistan earned another silver as Mohammad Ikram finished second behind Sri Lanka’s Hearth in the 800m race. Pakistan also won 4X100 relay silver last evening. Liaquat Ali earned bronze in 200m sprint while Mehboob Ali won bronze in 400m hurdles.

Mohammad Wasim also won shotput bronze. Mohammad Afzal clinched bronze in triple jump behind two Indians finishing with gold and silver respectively. Surprisingly, Pakistan men went medal less in the 1,500m race. The event which used to be the forte of the country even at the Asian level saw Mohammad Ikram finishing fourth.

Pakistan also won bronze in 4x400m relay on Thursday. Pakistan also won couple of silver medals in shooting event. Pakistan women pocketed silver in 50m rifle prone team event. Umar Sadiq won individual bronze in 50m rifle prone with men team also clinching silver.
