PTDC regularises services of seventy employees

Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) on Wednesday confirmed the services of 70 employees working on contractual and daily wage and the letters of confirmation were handed over to them by Senator Lieutenant General (r) Salahuddin Tirmizi in a simple ceremony.

The ceremony was also attended by PTDC Managing Director Kabir Ahmed, General Manager (Audit) Ali Akbar Malik, General Manager (F&A) Saeed Abbas Ansari, General Manager (Motels) Chaudhry Aziz-ud-din Tahir, Flashman's Manager Ashfaq Ahmed, Manager (Publicity and Promotion) Mukhtar Ali,  Deputy  Manager (PTDC Motels) Syed Amjad Ali Shah and Media Assistant Aftab Hussain besides other staff members of the PTDC.

Over 70 leftover employees were confirmed on the recommendation of Khurshid Shah Committee and on the direction of NIRC besides approval by the PTDC in its 83rd Board of Directors meeting held recently.

After handing over confirmation letters to 70 employees, the chief guest Lt. Gen (r) Salahuddin Tirmizi stressed upon the PTDC for initiating efforts to make this corporation a profitable body, enabling it to earn profit for the government besides running its affairs in a smooth way. With the promotion of tourism activities, PTDC should become self reliant instead of demanding funds and aids from the government.

Referring to the demands and grievances put up by the Managing Director, PTDC and union representatives, Senator Salahuddin assured to take up these issues with Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif with the objective of resolving them on prime basis which include release of bailout package worth Rs1.5 billion, to clear over 15 months salaries to its employees and carry out necessary renovation, repair works in motels.
