PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nasir Khan Durrani on Thursday dismissed Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Katlang in Mardan district Abid-ur-Rahman from service.

As per the official communiqué, the step was taken in the light of inquiry committee’s findings. The provincial police officer had first suspended the SDPO and acting DSP Abid-ur-Rahman on charges of misuse of powers, bad reputation, links with smugglers and making illegal assets.

It said the IGP after suspension order had also ordered a departmental enquiry against the officer.

To probe the allegations, the IGP constituted an enquiry board headed by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) police and comprising senior police officers. The enquiry board, it said, completed enquiry against the suspended SDPO and submitted its report to IGP for further action. All the allegations were proved against the suspended acting DSP.

It said that the IGP in light of the enquiry report dismissed the already suspended DSP Abid-ur-Rahman from service with immediate effect. A notification to this effect was also issued accordingly.
