Fire destroys two oil tankers at Keamari terminal

Four people fell unconscious after a major fire broke out in a petrol tanker in the Keamari terminal, situated in the Docks police area, on Thursday.

According to an official of the Karachi Port Trust (KPT), the fire erupted in an oil tanker at around 4:15am while the tanker was being filled.

Within a few minutes, it spread to another tanker and four employees working at the terminal fell unconscious due to suffocation; they were taken to the Civil Hospital for treatment.

Six fire engines of the KPT managed to extinguish the blaze after two hours.

Hit-and-runs

Three people, including a teenage boy, were killed in road accidents on Thursday.

Nahal, 30, a private security guard was knocked dead by a hit-and-run vehicle near Lucky Star in Saddar, while he was crossing a road.

Ameer Bukhsh, 15, son of Imam Bukhsh, was riding a bicycle when a hit-and-run vehicle ran him over near Islamabad Hotel in Gulshan-e-Hadeed. He died on the spot.

An 25-year-old motorcyclist lost his life when a vehicle dashed into his two-wheelers near Banaras Bridge in the Peerabad area.
