KARACHI: Pakistan cricket team will miss spinner Yasir Shah in Asia Cup and World T20 Championship, says a former chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed Sallu.
“Pakistan have no other ‘wristy’ spinner and I think he will be missed by Pakistan in Asia Cup and World T20 Championship,” Sallu told PPI.
He said that ODI skipper Azhar Ali also makes use of the wrist but since he is not a full-time spinner and as dangerous as Yasir, the latter will be missed in both big events.
He, however, added that Pakistan Super League (PSL) had produced two other good spinners – Mohammad Asghar and Mohammad Nawaz, one of whom could take Yasir’s place. “But still, they lack Yasir’s experience,” he added.
Yasir has been suspended for three months by the ICC after he was found guilty of taking prohibited drug mistakenly. His ban will end on March 27, which means he will miss Asia Cup and much of World T20.
