Islamabad: Around 250 students have won scholarships during the last two years to do a doctorate in Chinese and South Korean universities.
The students were selected by the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination through the National Testing Service, an independent organisation, which holds academic performance evaluation tests of the students seeking admission to colleges and universities.
The selection was done under the Cultural Exchange Scholarship Programme for the year 2016 for PhD course in various subjects.
The scholarships were fully funded as the donor countries provided tuition fee, accommodation and monthly living allowance.
According to an official in the know, 121 such scholarships were awarded in 2014 for China, five in the same year for South Korea, and 117 in 2015 for China. In this way, the scholarships totaled 243.
