Chinese New Year celebrated at City School

The City School, E-11 Campus, joined in the week-long celebrations of Chinese New Year to express love and solidarity with the neighbouring country, says a press release.

The school was adorned with the red lanterns and traditional figures, exaggerated patterns, drawings and symbolic images, all in red, the colour of the festival.

The Chinese delegation, led by Chinese Cultural Counsellor Mr Zheng, visited the campus. They were welcomed by the Regional Director (North), Shireen Jawaid, Ms Itrat Rubab, General Manager International, Mehwash Ibrar, principal of the campus and headmistresses of respective sections.

They took a round of the stalls displaying cultural heritage of Pakistan. They also appreciated the science projects prepared and displayed by the students of the Senior Section.

Shireen Jawaid, addressing the gathering, announced offering of Chinese classes to the students of middle and secondary level in the campus. The Chinese councillor thanked The City School for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to them and hoped the collaboration between the two countries continued in future as well. Ms Lin Ying gave a detailed presentation to the students on the history of the New Year celebrations, traditional customs and significance of the Spring Festival that stimulated students' interest. Ms Itrat Rubab, in the end, gave her vote of thanks and said that the exchange programmes between the two countries would strengthen the ties further and provide brighter avenues to the students who pursue higher education.
