Two robbers shot dead an elderly woman on Thursday for attempting to resist a mugging bid in Landhi.

According to police, the victim, 52-year-old Perveen Naz, was shot and fatally wounded outside her residence in Landhi No 6 by two men who had likely followed her from a bank in Kharadar where she had just withdrawn Rs100,000.

Officials said Perveen was waiting for a family member to open the gate when the killers confronted her and demanded the money. Upon her refusal, the murderers shot her multiple times at close range and made off with her money.

Though her family rushed her to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Perveen succumbed to her injuries en route.

Two die in accidents

An unidentified man, who appeared to be 30-years-old, was killed when a speeding truck crashed into his motorcycle near New Sabzi Mandi on the Super Highway.

The driver fled the scene, leaving his vehicle behind. Police impounded the vehicle and took the deceased to ASH.

An unknown elderly man was killed when a hit-and-run vehicle ran him over near Safari Park on University Road in the Mobina Town police jurisdiction, while he was crossing the road.
