The Bacha Khan University attack has made the whole nation worried about the safely and security of their children. Education in the face of terror threats needs to be improvised to meet the new challenge. Educational institutions should arrange short and brief lectures for students in the security domain, and young children should be made to realise the threat posed by terrorists. Special assemblies can be held wherein students can be informed about the tactics likely to be used by infiltrators.
Areas surrounding educational institutions should not be left abandoned and unattended. Students’ groups should be formed to keep an eye on anything that seems suspicious. The state can provide external protection but only to a certain extent. There is an urgent requirement for the adoption of a psychological approach to defeat terrorism. Security through education should be the order of the day now.
