Minister of State for the Capital Administration and Development Division Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary has promised the provision of the adequate funds to the government schools and colleges in Islamabad to ensure foolproof security of students and staff members on the premises.

The government schools and colleges in Islamabad totaling over 400 are overseen by the CADD through the Federal Directorate of Education.

According to Dr Tariq Fazal, the CADD has so far given away Rs580 million to put in place tight security checks at the government’s educational institutions in the federal capital.

An amount of Rs180 million has been spent to increase the height of boundary walls to make them unscalable or build new ones, and fix razor wire on them.

Almost ninety per cent work in this respect has been completed until now.

Besides, Rs400 million has also been allocated for the installation of closed-circuit television cameras at Islamabad schools and colleges.

“Until now, CCTV cameras have been installed at 413 educational institutions. As for the rest, the Federal Directorate of Education is in the process of giving away the money for the purpose,” he said.

The minister said the CADD was making every effort to ensure foolproof security of its educational institutions and that included the doling out of the required funds.  He said parents might rest assured that their children were safe at educational institutions.
