PESHAWAR: The three-day ‘Youth Festival’ got underway at the Islamia College University on Tuesday and a number of students thronged the venue to take part in different activities on the occasion.
The festival has been being arranged by the Islami Jamiat Talaba.Senior Minister for Local Government Inayatullah Khan inaugurated the event. He also cut the ribbon to kick off the book fair on the occasion. Stalls of books had been arranged at the book fair, where books and other items were made available for the students at low rates.
The senior minister accompanied by campus president of Islami Jamiat Talaba, Hafeezullah, visited different stalls. A Seerat-un-Nabi (SAW) quiz competition was also arranged at the festival.
Jamaat-e-Islami provincial President Mushtaq Ahmad Khan supervised the competition. He also awarded cash prizes to the top three position holders of the competition. Israr Ahmad, a first year student of Islamia College, won the first prize of Rs30,000. The second prize of Rs20,000 went to Mohammad Izhar of University of Engineering and Technology and the third of Rs10,000 was won by Abbas Khan of the Islamia College.
Mushtaq Ahmad Khan in his speech urged the students to follow the golden principles taught to them by Holy Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him). He said they could get the real success in life and hereafter by following the teachings of Islam. A Shuhada-e-Army Public School (APS) moot had also been arranged on the occasion. Provincial Finance Minister Muzaffar Said was the chief guest on the occasion. The family members of the APS also attended the event.
