ISLAMABAD: The otherwise corruption infected Sindh Government has started accountability process of its most tainted revenue department with the authorities issuing show cause notice for dismissal from service to ten officials of Karachi Registration Office for preparing fake attorneys and fraudulent transfers of properties.
Sparing the senior officials and their political masters, the immediate target of the Sindh government’s accountability process is the lower staff of the revenue department. However, the NAB Karachi is presently looking into the role of Sindh’s top bureaucracy into illegal allotments of government land and other fishy dealings.
NAB is presently looking into the cases involving several serving or former key officials including provincial chief secretary, secretaries of different departments, senior revenue officials, police officers etc. Inquiries and investigations against some of the provincial ministers are also being held. Dozens of key officials of the Sindh government are presently on pre-arrest bail from different courts to prevent their apprehension by the NAB.
While the seniors have not yet been touched, provincial government sources told The News that following inquiries ordered by the Senior Member Board of Revenue the office of the Inspector General of Registration Karachi has issued show cause notices to ten lower staff members including a few sub registrars.
Eight officials including Manthar Ali Zardari, Sub Registrar-I, Saddar; Tariq Hussain, ex-sub registrar, Landhi Town; Syed Naad Ali Shah, Microfilming Officer Karachi; Shahid Ali Bhutto, DPA, Microfilming Office Karachi; Khalid, Junior Clerk, Office of Sub Registrar Saddar; Javed Vighio, ex-Peshkar, Office of Sub Registrar-I Saddar; Usman, naib qasid/daftri, office of sub-registrar-I Saddar; and Ahmed Bux Bhangar, junior clerk, office of sub registrar Landhi, have been suspended and issued show cause notice for alleged preparation of fake general powers of attorney and sub-general powers of attorney registration in the name of 14 individuals.
Following the complaint of one Irfan Ahmed, received on Sept 29 2015, the senior member Board of Revenue ordered an inquiry which was completed within days. Following the conclusion of the inquiry, show cause notices have been issued to the above officials of the sub-registrar offices of Landhi and Saddar Town.
In another case two officials of sub registrar office Clifton including former Registering Officer Sikandar Ali Qureshi and Peshkar Shakeel Ahmed Memon have been issued show cause notice for alleged preparation of fake general powers of attorney having attestation of Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi on the basis of fake and manipulated correspondence. This move was made to deprive the real owner of property- one Najmul Islam Chodhri- from his DHA Zamzama house.
In these cases, on the basis of fake attorneys properties were illegally transferred in the name of others without any information or consent of the real property owners. Concerned revenue authorities have been directed to take corrective measures to undo the wrongs in the fraudulent transfer of the properties involved.
