LONDON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will return to Pakistan after Eid because his doctors have advised him to take rest and avoid air travel for two more weeks, credible sources have confirmed.
The News has learnt from reliable sources that PM Sharif will spend Eid in London and will travel to Pakistan after Eid but no date has yet been decided.
The source said: “PM Nawaz Sharif has one final consultation next week with his surgeon at the Harley Street Clinic after which it is likely he will give go ahead for air travel. No date has yet been decided.”
The source said that PM Sharif had recovered well and doctors were happy with his progress but the recovery process in complex open heart operations was time taking and doctors strictly advised against anything which was risky and air travel was allowed only when doctors were fully satisfied. Geo News reported that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will go for the final consultation on 2nd July.
After being discharged from the hospital on 6th June, PM Sharif has been back to the hospital once for follow checkups. Dr David Lawrence and his team have reviewed Sharif’s progress and found nothing worrying but PM Sharif was asked to take rest for complete recovery.
A hospital source said that doctors at the Harley Street had been in touch with members of Nawaz Sharif’s family and taking regular advice on medication, diet and recovery exercises.
The prime minister has been in London since May 31 when his open-heart surgery was conducted. He was discharged from the Harley Street Clinic three weeks ago. Since then he has been staying at Hasan Nawaz’s flat near Marble Arch. PM Sharif, on doctor’s advice, has been going for regular walk around the Mayfair areas. Nawaz Sharif has been conducting important meetings via video links and over the phone. He has been in touch with the cabinet directly and through his office staff accompanying him in London.
