Nine killed in three separate incidents in capital

Eight persons were killed here in three separate incidents during last 24 hours, a police source said.

In the Wednesday late night gun shooting, a constable of the Islamabad Elite Force, committed suicide after killing four people including a woman at Durrani Street in Banni Gala on Wednesday night. Another woman of the house was wounded critically.

The police said Constable Mehmood of Special Protection Group and gunman to General Abdul Qadir went to his land lord house at Banni Gala and had a cup of tea with the family of land lord. After having tea he went out of the house and then suddenly entered the house again and started firing killing four persons identified as Muhammad Arshad Age (34), house maid Hajra Bibi (65), Irum Iqbal Advocate w/o Zahid Hussain (35) and her four-year old son Hussain Ali. Another female Gul Nisa (65) also got injured during this firing.

After the shooting, Constable Mehmood committed suicide by shooting himself with his official SMG. He died on the spot. Dead bodies of Arshad and Hajra were shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences while dead body of Constable Mehmood was shifted to Government Services Polyclinic.

Constable Mehmood No1750/C was recruited on 10/07/2007 and posted at SPG on 21/05/2014 remained two years in other duties including Escort duty with MOI and posted as permanent gunman to the Minister Gen Abdul Qadir on 29/01/16. He was issued SMG No. 1727 along with two magazines with 40 rounds used in the offence. He was permanent resident of Chak No. 67/GR PS Haroon Abad, Saddar, Bahawalnagar.

Police said that constable Mehmood was living as tenant in the house of Irum Iqbal Advocate and he committed this act as the owners got their house vacated from him which annoyed him.

Meanwhile, one person was killed and two others were injured when a dumper (LWO-9355) collided with a van (B-7417) near G-11. The deceased has been identified as van occupant, Muhammad Ali (15) of Muhammad Junaid while two others who received injuries have been identified as Muhammad Idress and Muhammad Junaid. Shamas Colony police have arrested the driver of dumper, Nadir Khan.

In another incident, three motorcyclists were crushed to death when dumper (KA-227) hit their bike (LZF-2721) on GT Road near Bharia Town gate (4). The deceased have been identified as Abdul Basit (28), Muhmmad Naveed (29) and Muhammad Irfan (32).
