LAHORE

Members of Peoples’ Students Federation Sunday staged a motorcycle rally to demand restoration of students’ unions.

The rally was led by Nadim Asghar Kaira, member organising committee PPP, Punjab and was attended by a large number of PSF members. It started from Punjab PPP office at Model Town and concluded in front of the Governor’s House.

The rally was organised by PSF leaders Imran Dogar, Shahzad Shafi, Aqib Sarwar and Ali Ahsan Awan. Member organising committee PPP Punjab Nadeem Asghar Kaira and ex-president PSF Punjab University Faisal Mir and Dr Zarrar led the rally on a truck decorated with large pictures of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari saying: “I will complete the mission of Shaheed Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto”.

A large number of students riding motorcycles carrying party flags and banners accompanied the truck. Loud PPP music was played by DJ. The rally ended at Governor’s House where students held a protest and demanded restoration of students’ unions in educational institutions.

Addressing the participants, Nadeem Asghar Kaira said such a large rally by PSF in the heart of Punjab is a question mark for all those analysts who always campaigned on the media that the PPP was dead in Punjab. He said students’ unions were banned by Gen Zia to promote his religious extremist agenda in educational institution through his pet student organisation. He said Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has already announced the restoration of students’ unions after coming to power.

Former president, PSF, Punjab University, Faisal Mir said Pakistan is the only democratic country in the world where students are not allowed to form students unions. He said the PPP will establish PSF in every college and university of Lahore and bring same kind of revolution under the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari which was brought by Shaheed Bhutto. He said Bilawal is in politics for another 60 years and is an ideal leader for students of almost his age.

Former president, PSF, Lahore division Imran Dogar said PSF will prove itself as strong arm of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He warned if students’ unions are not restored, PSF will be on roads for their democratic right. Dr Zarrar said students are backbone of any political party and today we are starting a new journey in Lahore by holding such a huge rally.

PSF leader Shahzad Shafi said Shaheed Bhutto brought revolution in Pakistan with the help of students. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Bakhtawer Bhutto Zardari and Aseefa Zardari can bring three time bigger revolution in Pakistan. PSF leaders Aqib Sarwar and Ali Ahsan Awan addressed the rally and demanded an immediate restoration of students’ unions.
