ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has issued a rejoinder to chairman of the Public Accounts Committtee (PAC) Syed Khursheed Shah and another member of PAC for speaking against facts and reality regarding a veteran leader of JI and ex senator Professor Khurshid Ahmad who, as head of the board, is running the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS), a research and welfare institute in the federal capital.
JI central information secretary Amirul Azim said during the meeting, the PAC chairman and a member who belongs to PML-N tried to give the impression that Prof Khurshid Ahmad was taking personal benefits from the Institute. “Prof Khurshid established the IPS with his personal efforts and the Institute is working for promotion of Islam not only in Pakistan but also outside the country,” he said.
He said that a board was running the Institute which sold out its old building and purchased another building for the IPS. “But during the meeting an impression was given that Prof Khurshid himself used the amount for his own benefit which is highly regrettable,” he said.
He said that Prof Khurshid Ahmad also remained member of the Senate but he took no personal benefits and also did not draw his salary.
He said that the Professor also received a handsome amount when he was given Shah Faisal Award but the same amount was spent on welfare projects. “People like Khursheed Shah and the PML-N member are not aware of the fact that some personalities sacrifice their interests and spend money on charity for helping the poor and deserving segments of society,” he said.
