MANSEHRA: Speakers at a conference on Saturday underlined the need for making efforts to bring reforms in the education sector to provide facilities to the students
of the public sector schools so that they could work for the development of the country.

“If we could achieve our target of providing standard education to all students, it will be a great milestone as education is a grey area in the district,” Federal Minster for Haj and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Mohammad Yousaf told participants of an educational conference here.

The district government had organised the conference. Among others, Vice-Chancellor of Hazara University Dr Habib, Abdul Hafiz, Pakistan Scouts Cadet Collage Batrasi Principal, District Nazim Sardar Said Ghulam, District Education Officer Nisar Ahmad and Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Mian Ziaur Rehman attended the moot.

Sardar Mohammad Yousaf lauded the role of district government for holding the conference. He added that the students of public sector schools should be provided facilities so that they could compete with the students of private sector schools.

The minister said that lack of facilities, absenteeism of teachers and other issues affected the education of the students at the public sector schools. He said that Prime Minster Nawaz Sharif during his recent visit to Mansehra had announced that federal government would reconstruct all the schools damaged in the October 2005 earthquake.

Addressing the moot, Vice-Chancellor Dr Habib said that education was the key to success and those nations that lagged behind in this field couldn’t compete at the international level. “Those nations that didn’t give importance to education are lagging behind in every field,” he added.

District Nazim Sardar Said Ghulam said that basic philosophy behind holding the educational conference was to discuss ways and means to improve the standard of education at the public sector schools in the district.“We have adopted an educational policy for our students at the public sector schools,” he said.
